Description
In this recording Taj Begum, born in Delhi, discusses her familial relation to the Partition. She shares her experiences with direct displacement during her family’s journey to Pakistan. In the recording she starts by sharing the family dynamics in her house just before the uprises had begun. The family dynamics had shaped her family’s approach to their displacement and decision towards moving to Pakistan. Taj Begum shares how her relationships with her neighbors had helped them with escaping the riots. Due to rumors being spread about possible riots, her family had moved to a refugee camp. Taj Begum explains how the camp’s resources were limited and many families wouldn’t have enough food or a roof over their heads to protect them from the weather.
